Wireless Basics 5: Complex installations
The preceding pages talk about simple networks. A
cluster of laptops and
a single Access Point, for example. Where you need a fixed
setup life becomes more complicated. There is no way we can
even start to guess about the layout without visiting the
School. All sorts of factors come into play.
- How big is the area to be covered?
- What is the building made from?
- What is in the rooms?
- How secure does the data need to be?
- Who is going to use the network?
- How pervasive does the signal need to be?
The above list applies to a cluster of overlapping
cells. If you need a point-to-point network linking two
sites, things are different again. Please don't hesitate to
contact us for a site
visit.
