Wireless Basics 2: How to set it up
The following is for a very basic, portable setup. To
ensure a robust installation, you need to have the Access
Points mounted on the wall at above head height. Cables can
then be neatly dressed into trunking. In a proper
installation, we would use Power over
Ethernet adapters so you wouldn't need to plug the
Access Points into the mains
How to set it up:
- Take the Access
Point out of its box and connect it to the mains (if
necessary) and a network point
- Take the Driver disc (or CD) for the Network Adapter
and put it into the computer.
- Accept all the default settings the setup software
offers.
- Take a Network Adapter out of
its box and connect it to a computer.
- Restart the machine when asked.
- From here on you just set up the machine as you
normally would to connect to your existing network.
