To create a new user: · Load "Active Directory Users and Computers" · Find a user of the type you want to create - "zaktest" is a standard Pupil user · Right Click on this user · Choose "Copy" from the menu · Enter the new user's first and last names into the appropriate boxes · Give the user a logon name - First name + first letter of surname is standard, no spaces · Click "Next" · For a Staff member, set a password. Don't set a password for a Pupil · Make sure "User cannot change password" and "Password never expires" are both ticked · Click "Next" · Click "Finish" · An Error will pop up. Don't worry. Click "OK" · Don't close the program, minimize it to the icon bar Now create the User's home folder: · Open the appropriate "Shortcut to ... Folders" · Right-click in the new window, and choose New -> Folder · Change the name of the folder to the name of your new user · Right-click on the folder and click on "Sharing..." in the menu · Click on "Share the files in this folder" · The folder name will appear in the "Share name". Click at the end of the name · Add a dollar sign - $ - to the end of the name (So "fredb" becomes "fredb$", for instance) · Click on Permissions and make sure that Everyone is listed and that Full Control is enabled · Click on the Security tab and make sure that Everyone is listed and that Full Control is enabled · Click "Apply" and "OK" Finally, get the user to automatically connect to the new folder: · Click on "Active Directory Users..." on the icon bar to maximise it again. · Find the user you made earlier · Double-click on the user · Click on the "Profile" tab · Where it says "Connect: W To \\NTSERVER\$", change it so the is that of your new user · Click Apply. An error will pop up telling you that the directory wasn't created because it already exists. This is good. Click "OK" · Click "OK" That's it. For multiple users, you can do each stage the required number of times, or follow the cycle through for each one.
